H/Advisors

Welcome to H/Advisors

We help leaders navigate strategic, financial, policy and reputational challenges with clarity and confidence.

For over three decades, we have stood at the intersection business, policy and society – where decisions are made, reputations are built and change is sparked.

H/Advisors in the UK brings together the heritage, skills and insight of H/Advisors Maitland and H/Advisors Cicero to support leaders at their most important moments. For more than 30 years, our teams have worked at the intersection of policy, finance and corporate reputation, helping clients make clear decisions and deliver meaningful results.

We help organisations cut through complexity to define practical, effective strategy. From regulatory and public policy change to corporate transformations, financial communications and reputation-sensitive situations, we provide insight that informs action and drives impact. Our advice supports leadership through major transactions, market shifts and political events that define long-term value.

Combining global reach with deep local insight, we deliver solutions shaped by the realities our clients face. We focus on what matters most: building trust, strengthening reputation and enabling organisations to move forward with confidence. We are more than advisors - we are partners, committed to shaping outcomes that support sustained success.

Transformation and Change - Social impact
Reckitt

Transformation and Change - Social impact

H/Advisors has worked with Reckitt since 2017, advising and supporting on various corporate communication briefs, including the strategic reorganisation which was announced in October 2017.

The social impact investment strategy had to reflect the new structure and focus of Reckitt’s business, along with its growing commitment to make a positive impact on the world. Even more than the previous approach, the new strategy encouraged and enabled employees to get involved and participate in delivering against Reckitt’s charitable goals.

Crisis and Reputation - Orchestrating a multi-jurisdictional product recall
Durex

Crisis and Reputation - Orchestrating a multi-jurisdictional product recall

This project was a high-profile product recall carried out across 36 jurisdictions. The local recall strategy was driven by teams in the markets in close coordination with the relevant regulatory authority and in alignment with local legal requirements and trade protcols.

We were able to swifly correct any inaccurate reporting through our local agency partners. Market-specfic developments and potential communication issues were flagged immediately through the agency network and resolved with the guidance and support of the global team. By keeping central control of the communications strategy and key messaging, we were able to minimise the impact on the brand and the company.

Corporate Communications and thought leadership
Amundi

Corporate communications and thought leadership

Despite being Europe's largest asset manager with AUM of €1.9 trillion, Amundi was relatively unknown outside of France. It received a disproportionally low share of voice considering its size.

At H/Advisors, we developed a comprehensive media engagement programme for the business, its leader and various experts. This included building strong relationships with the institutional and retail investor press through 1-2-1 background briefings and roundtable events. We identified high impact broadcast appearances for Amundi's fund managers and drew the media's attention to Amundi's key expertise, such as its impressive low-carbon offering. Alongside this, we delivered a global thought leadership campaign to expand and deepen Amundi’s relationships with distribution partners in key markets.

Amundi's coverage and industry share of voice has increased every year since we started working together in 2015. The business is now much better known and understood, and the strategic and targeted profile we have driven has helped to underpin its growth plans.

Sustain - ESG Strategy

Sustain - ESG Strategy

With a diverse set of stakeholders and no internal expertise, ESP turned to us to help them launch and progress their ESG journey to match their peers. We had to prepare ESP for a strategy that would satisfy their stakeholders and allow them to progress their ESG journey.

The senior leadership team, Board and chair were reassured by our work and ESP has positive reception from all stakeholders, especially the media. Colleagues were enthused by engagement and leading the strategy through their work. Confidence throughout the organisation to build upon the strategy and reach extended goals and KPIs.

Cross-market communications and public affairs Cross-market communications and public affairs
Oversight Board

Cross-market communications and public affairs

The Oversight Board – an independent body created to guide content moderation decisions on Facebook and Instagram – faced the uphill task of building credibility and visibility in a globally polarised debate around online speech. The challenge was intensified by the political sensitivity of content moderation, and the need to navigate different regulatory expectations across the EU, UK, and US.

H/Advisors developed and executed a cross-market communications and public affairs strategy. We launched the Board’s brand with strategic messaging shaped by in-depth global polling and elite stakeholder interviews.

The Oversight Board quickly gained international recognition as a serious and credible authority on digital speech. We secured extensive coverage in outlets including Reuters, Bloomberg, Politico, The Times, The Guardian and The Wall Street Journal, ensuring the Board’s position was consistently included in key debates. Its messaging now resonates with policymakers and media across jurisdictions, and it is regarded as a leading, independent voice in the evolving regulation of online platforms.

Delivering legislative change
Rare Cancers Coalition

Delivering legislative change

H/Advisors worked with the Brain Tumour Charity, Brain Tumour Research, and Pancreatic Cancer UK as the main secretariat, and was backed by a further 40 charities, to support the Rare Cancers Bill as it moved through Parliament.

We co-ordinated the work of multiple parliamentarians and charities to raise awareness of Bill and build broad cross-party support. This included organising parliamentary briefing sessions, events with representatives from the pharmaceutical industry and comms activations at key moments. We secured coverage of the Bill on BBC Breakfast and won two corporate industry awards for the pro bono campaign with the PRCA and PRWeek/In.Comms.

The Bill successfully passed through the House of Commons and House of Lords unamended and received Royal Assent in 2026.

Public affairs & corporate communications support
Copper.co

Public affairs & corporate communications support

H/Advisors was enlisted by Copper.co, a digital platform infrastructure, to provide public affairs support, generate media coverage and develop its social media strategy.

We developed a comprehensive approach to position Copper.co as the primary cryptoasset for asset managers, utilising contacts in the cryptocurrency and asset finance trade press to regularly cover Copper’s growth and development, while ensuring that bigger news stories – such as funding rounds, or the appointment of former Chancellor Lord Hammond as a Special Adviser – achieved prominent coverage in top national business publications.

H/Advisors helped Copper become established as a thought leader in digital assets, with its coverage having exponentially expanded in frequency, range and reach. In 2021, Copper was mentioned in nearly 2,500 media articles with news announcements and analysis about the firm regularly appearing in Tier One publications.

Policy, media relations and research campaign
LINK

Policy, media relations and research campaign

H/Advisors provided policy, media relations and research support to the Access to Cash Review which was launched by LINK - the operator of the UK’s ATM network.

The campaign included primary research of consumers to understand their changing payment habits and vulnerabilities of increasing digital payments. We secured over 2,000 media hits in every single national newspaper and widespread broadcast media.

The Access to Cash Review continues to be seen as the gold standard on this debate, leading to the UK Government introducing legislation to protect access to cash and the rollout of banking hubs.

H/Advisors continues to work with LINK positioning the business as the go-to industry player on all issues related to access to cash. Since implementing our strategy with LINK, the debate on cash has evolved from a small technical policy area into a significant and policy changing debate on the role of cash and face-to-face banking in the UK.
